Tummy Fat and You
Unfortunately there are social penalties for having excessive fat which can be distressing and emotionally charged to some. Those patients who carry excessive fat in the tummy and other areas are subject to many obstacles in life; from poor and loose fitting garments to finding the designer clothes racks which stop before reaching ones size. This can result in segregated shopping for clothing in the plus section. Those with slim and perfect bodies are offered a seemingly limitless array of fashions. In contrast to the three or four outfits that fit those with excessive fat comfortably.
What are the reasons for tummy fat then?
* Night Snacking
One good rule of thumb is never eat within three hours of your bedtime. It is best to give your body the opportunity to fully digest before you go to sleep.
Sleeping with a full stomach increases your risk for fat storage around the tummy area. If you are determined eat something late at night make sure it is healthy such as a banana or carrot stick. The worst thing you can do is munch of potato chips and fatty snacks.
* Body Type
There are two main female body types - the apple and pear. If you gain and store fat in lower parts of your body (tummy, hips and thighs) you are considered pear-shaped.
* Changes in Metabolism
As people age their metabolism slows down. The body no longer bursn calories as fast or as easily as when in your youth. This slower metabolism will result in extra fat deposits, in particular around the tummy area.
* Menopause
After menopause begins to occurs in women, fat begins storing itself in different places and often times changes focus to the tummy area.
* Stress
If you are under a good deal of stress for seemingly no particular reason you may be a victim of a chemical imbalances. Panic attacks and high anxiety sufferers generally notice more tummy fat and it may be difficult to impossible lose. This situation needs to be addressed with your physician. If you can restore the proper chemical balance and reduce stress tummy fat can be significantly reduced.
